Love, Forgiveness And Gratitude

By Pat Campbell I get so frustrated with the futility of people’s lives. Most people are so concerned with trivialities and protocol that they completely fail to see the reasons why they are here on earth. I don’t mean that we should be irresponsible – there are some things that need to be done to earn a living or for the sake of safety or hygiene. And of course it’s always a good idea to pay your bills on time. But does it really matter if you didn’t watch a particular TV show tonight or if you ate tea an hour later than usual? Some people’s lives are so regimented that they are not consciously aware of what they are doing most of the time; most of their everyday functions are performed on autopilot. And does it really matter if you don’t have the latest DVD, the fanciest mobile phone or more clothes than you can possibly fit into your wardrobe? I think many people need to get their priorities right! There are only three things in life that really matter - love, forgiveness and gratitude. Get these right and nothing else really matters; everything else will fall into place without a struggle. Of course you will still have challenges in your life but they will no longer seem insurmountable. Solutions will present themselves much more readily! It isn't a coincidence that nearly all the songs we hear on the radio are about love because love really is what "makes the world go round". Without love we are nothing. I am not referring specifically to romantic love; we can love in many different ways. But the love of God goes beyond any mortal feelings. I would never have believed that a few short years ago. Regardless of what some religions may preach about God being jealous or demanding, that isn't true. God is pure love, nothing else. He loves us all without reservation, without judgment, no matter what we do in our lives or even if we believe in His existence. Hate is self destructive; it never hurts the person it is aimed at, only ourselves. Love is a much better solution. We tend to think that when we have problems that someone else is to blame. But that is not the case at all. It is our own perception of the situation. We blame others so that we can avoid looking at the real issue behind the problem. Problems occur for one reason only and that is so we may learn a lesson. And that lesson is often about forgiveness. Do you want a better life than what you have right now? I think most of us do. An important factor in improving your life is gratitude. When we take a little time each day to give thanks for what we have, we will open a channel to receive more of the good things. This is just the way the universe works. Thank God for the gifts you receive every day, thank your partner for being with you (and maybe putting up with your bad habits), thank your friends for being there for you when you need them, thank your children for choosing you to be their parent (and yes, we do choose our own parents before we incarnate into a human body). There are many things to give thanks for every day. So life isn’t about blame, it’s about learning forgiveness. It isn’t about hate; it’s a lesson in love. And it isn’t about resentment; it’s a lesson in gratitude. As we learn these lessons and incorporate them into our daily living, the quality of our lives is vastly improved. And you will feel different because your life will be more peaceful and harmonious than it ever has been before. And you will attract a great deal more of what is good into your life. Think Positively to Change Your Life

By Marisa Singhnarinaath These days it can be really difficult to think positively. It seems like every day there is more bad news about the economy, and no one really knows when a change is going to come or when the bad times are going to end, or even how bad it's going to get before things turn around. At times like this it's really easy to get caught in a cycle of negative thinking. It doesn't seem like anything is going right, so you think negative thoughts and fill your mind with worry about the next bad thing that's going to happen, whether you're going to be able to keep paying your bill or even if you'll still have a job next year. All that negativity isn't very much fun, for one thing. It's impossible to be very happy about things if you're filling your mind with worry, doom and gloom. It's also hard to see the good things that are already in your life if you're worrying about those things going away. And the truth is the more you think negatively, the more negative effects you're going to see in your life. You might find that after a day of negativity you're actually feeling physically sick like you have a cold coming on. This isn't your imagination, it's a real physical manifestation of your negative thoughts, and a clear example of how we're able to influence our environment and what happens to us through our thoughts and feelings. On the flip side we can also influence what happens to us in a positive way, though positive thinking and feelings. Focusing on the good that is already in our lives and thinking about the greater good that will come to us in the future, the goals we want to achieve and the things we want to have, will make more good things come into our lives. The key is to focus on what it is that you want in your life, not what you don't want. Clearly we all want security, peace and stability in our lives, our jobs and our families, but all too often we think about what would happen if those things were taken away from us. We dwell on lost jobs, illness and divorce, and those negative thoughts and feelings just bring more negative energy into our lives. If you want to feel more positive, think more positive thoughts. If you want more goodness in your life, think about the good things you have and how you'd like your life to be. Imagine a life that is calm, a job that provides all the money you need and a family that is happy, and that is what you will have. Positive thinking isn't just a way to make you feel better in hard times (though it will do that). It's a concrete thing that you can do to turn your life around, no matter how crazily things are swirling around you. Changing People's Minds (Including Your Own) with Conversational Hypnosis

By Marisa Singhnarinaath You've probably heard of hypnosis before and think of it as something like you've seen on television, where someone is put into a deep trance and then they are suddenly able to remember things that happened to them in the past. There are actually several different kinds of hypnosis and one of the most interesting for regular people is what's known as conversational hypnosis. This is a method by which, through talking to someone in a trancelike state, you can change their mind or the way they feel about an issue or situation. The idea behind conversational hypnosis is that everyone goes into trances throughout the day, perhaps when doing something sort of mindless like waiting for a bus, or when doing something that takes a lot of concentration like studying for an exam. If we can mindfully access these trance states we can actually plant suggestions in other people's minds. This of course is not a simple thing to do. It takes a lot of training to be able to build the rapport with someone that is necessary to get them into a trance state and to properly build on that through confusion and suggestion while they're in the trance state, which is what really allows the suggestion to be planted and the change of mind to take place. Even if this isn't something you can do yourself without a lot of training from someone experienced in the field, it is a very cool idea that just opens up to us the amazing power of the mind. YOur mind can actually be trained through the power of suggestion to change a long-held opinion, break a habit or even just change your attitude and make you feel more positive. It's really powerful to understand this and to think about how you can use this power of positive persuasion in your own life. If you think about it, the steps of conversational hypnosis can be used on yourself, though maybe not as dramatically, to change the way you think about things. Consider how you feel about a particular issue. Maybe you think your life is going nowhere fast. First you build rapport with yourself by stating or writing down everything that you think proves your point of view. Then confuse the issue by turning your current idea on its head. Suggest to yourself that some other idea might in fact be the truth, rather than the ideas you've been holding before. This trick might not work instantly to change your mind since you probably won't be in a true trance state when you practice this exercise, but doing it consistently every few days can allow you to see that your idea of the way things are isn't the only way of looking at things, and perhaps you've had the wrong idea all along. Working the Law of Attraction

By Marisa Singhnarinaath The law of attraction has been a buzz phrase for a couple of years now, since the movie The Secret swept the world. The movie was so powerful to people because it showed that we really are in control of our own destiny, and if we don't like the way things are in our lives, we can change them. Some people immediately embraced this idea, while others are skeptical of what you can change with the power of your mind. It seems silly to be attracting good parking spaces into your life when people everywhere have real problems that need solving. But the truth is starting with something simple like getting to work without hitting a traffic light or finding a really good parking space can help you see how the law of attraction works. In its most basic form, this law means that what you focus on expands and becomes a reality in your life. If you're running late and all you're thinking is "oh my goodness, I'm going to be late, I'll bet I hit every red light and there's going to be traffic and there's no way I'm going to get to work on time," what do you think will happen? You'll probably get exactly what you expect. If, on the other hand, you take a moment to calmly envision getting to work on time with no traffic hassles, and you really see your car pulling into a great parking space at exactly the time you need to be there, you can attract that, too. The law of attraction rewards a playful spirit. You can't really go into it with skepticism, thinking that it's not going to work. Again, if you're focusing on that this is going to be a big failure and a waste of time, then that's what you're going to get. You've probably experienced this in your life in a negative way before. For instance you might have been worried about money, hoping that your paycheck would come before a major bill arrived, and of course, wouldn't you know it, the bill came first. Hard to believe as it may be, you caused that to happen. The mind is very powerful as a conduit of energy. Bring more positive thoughts into your life and you will also bring more positive experiences into your life. You don't have to start with attracting the perfect new house or the car or partner of your dreams. Start small. Play with it and see what happens. Maybe you want to attract some money. Imagine yourself going to your mailbox and finding a check you weren't expecting. Really feel what it would be like to experience that. It might not happen today, but go into this with an open mind and you might find you'll get exactly what you asked for.
