ARTIKEL ini ialah bahagian terakhir bagi empat siri. Ia memberi beberapa nasihat berguna mengenai cara untuk mengelakkan beberapa masalah biasa yang dihadapi dalam bulan Ramadan.

Jika nasihat yang diberikan diamalkan, maka seseorang itu boleh berpuasa dengan selesa dan menikmati faedah ibadat puasa sepanjang Ramadan.

Menjelang bulan Ramadan, diet kita bertukar dengan ketara. Hidangan kita menjadi lebih berat pada pagi dan malam, tanpa pengambilan makanan di antaranya pada tempoh yang panjang.

Perubahan dalam diet bukannya dapat diterima dengan baik oleh semua orang. Sesetengah daripada mereka ini mengalami penumpuan kurang baik dan keletihan ketika berpuasa.

Antara sebabnya adalah kerana terjadinya kandungan gula darah yang rendah dan tekanan darah rendah.

Keletihan dan penumpuan fikiran yang kurang baik

Antara gejala-gejala kandungan gula darah rendah ialah kelemahan, kepeningan, keletihan, penumpuan fikiran kurang baik, berpeluh dengan melampau, menggigil, sakit kepala dan jantung berdegup dengan cepat.

Elakkan memakan terlalu banyak gula iaitu karbohidrat yang diproses terutamanya pada waktu suhur.

Badan menghasilkan terlalu banyak insulin sehingga menyebabkan glukosa darah menurun.

Tip: Makan karbohirat kompleks dan yang boleh dihadam secara lambat – makanan yang mengandungi bijian dan biji seperti barli, gandum, oat, semolina, kekacang, dal, tepung gandum penuh dan beras tidak diproses pada waktu suhur dan mengehadkan pengambilan makanan dan minuman bergula.

Gejala-gejala yang berkaitan dengan tekanan darah rendah ialah berpeluh dengan melampau, kelemahan, keletihan, kekurangan tenaga, kepeningan terutamanya semasa ingin bangun berdiri dari tempat duduk, kelihatan pucat dan berasa ingin pitam.

Keadaan ini cenderung untuk berlaku apabila hampir ke waktu petang. Antara sebab biasa termasuk pengambilan air dan garam yang terhad.

Tip: Kekalkan rasa sejuk, perbanyakkan pengambilan air dan garam (untuk mereka yang tiada darah tinggi).

Tahap tenaga rendah – makanan tambahan yang disyorkan

Koenzim-Q10, Spirulina, Klorela dan Jeli Raja boleh meningkatkan tahap tenaga dengan mengoptimumkan tindak balas biokimia yang melibatkan penghasilan tenaga.

Klorofil, Ginseng Siberia dan Vitamin B12 ialah zat makanan yang menambah tenaga.

L-Karnitina membantu menukarkan asid lemak kepada tenaga untuk membekalkan tenaga kepada setiap sel dalam badan anda, terutamanya dalam jantung.

A Lesson from Earth’s Most Powerful Mammal

A couple of months ago I went to Thailand with my family (a beautiful country I visit every year) and brought my kids to watch and ride on the elephants there. Watching these world’s largest mammals are really fascinating. Elephants are such gentle creatures and yet so powerful and strong. A large male elephant has the strength to pull a tree down and is able to lift a log with his trunk. One thing that amazed me is that there are no elephant cages. You have cages for lions, bears and tigers but never a cage for the elephant. Why is this so? How do they prevent this powerful creature (stronger than the tiger + lion + bear added together) from escaping and running away. All they do is to tie a rope (or a single chain) to the elephants leg and secure it to a stake in the ground. Once his leg is secured, he will not run away. Now, do you think the elephant actually has the potential to break the chain or rope if he wanted to? Of course! He can pull down an entire tree! But why won’t he break the weak rope that holds secures his leg? The answer I found from the keepers lies in making the elephant BELIEVE that he CANNOT break the string. This conditioning begins from young. When the elephant is a baby and still too weak to walk or even stand properly, they tie his leg to the stake in the ground. Sure enough when the baby elephant tries to run to its mother, it would not able to break the chains that bind it. When it attempts to run, the chain will catch its leg and it will fall onto the ground. Undeterred, the elephant would get up and ‘try again. He will run towards his mother only to have his leg get caught and body being flung to the ground. After expriencing all the pain from falling again and again, one day the elephant will not bother to pull the chain any more. The moment this happens, the keepers know that the elephant has been condiitoned to be trapped for the rest of its life. Why do I tell you this story? When I watched this powerful creature being secured by a weak chain that it could easily break but does not, I think of the thousands of people whom I meet every day who are similary trapped by their limiting beliefs and habits that they can easily change but do not even attempt to. As human beings, we are like that powerful elephant with tremendous potential to achieve any dream we want, from becoming a millioniare to making a difference in the world. However, so many people with this amazing power do not dare to take action becasue they believe they cannot do it. They believe that it is pointless. It could be when they were young, they failed and fell many times just like that baby elephant. Maybe when they were young, their parente stold them they were lazy and stupid. Maybe their friends called them a blur sotong. Maybe, their teachers said that they were good for nothing. As a result of all this past conditioning. may people form the belief that they cannot succeed. Just like the elephant, they think that I could not do it in past, so how can I do it now? In the past, I was lazy, so how can I be hardworking now. In the past I had no confidence, so how can I be confident now. In the past I was a slow learner, so how can I learn fast now? In the past I could not speak well, how can I now? What these people fail to see is that the past does not equal to the future. They do not realize that just like the elephant, they are not the same person anymore. The elephant does not realze that in the past, he did not have the strength and power, but he does now. I want you to now that every single day, you wake up a different person. A person who has more knowledge, more experiences and a person who is wiser. Did you know that millions of cells in your body die every day and that new ones are produced? In fact, Radioactive isotope studies prove beyond a shadow of doubt that you replace 98% of all the atoms in your body in less than one year. You make a new liver every 6 weeks, a new skin once a month, a new stomach lining every 5 days, a new skeleton - it seems so hard and solid, but the skeleton you have now you didn’t have three months ago. Even the brain cells that you think with as carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen, as those basic elements, they weren’t there one year ago. So, the only thing that keeps us from changing our actions and our results are the beliefs that we have. Siapakah orang yang sibuk? To Hug or Not to Hug

Julie Malveaux could use a good hug.

She grew to enjoy the fond embrace -- and occasional cheek kiss -- with which clients and co-workers greeted her while at her former job for a public-relations firm in Miami.

"It felt weird at first. Then you realize it's just not that unusual," she said. "It was very clear that it was just a greeting or a good-bye ... just a friendly gesture."

The 36-year-old, now working as a media-affairs manager in Alexandria, Va., said physical affection between colleagues created a familial feel. She added that the physical affection was more common between female co-workers.

"I do miss the touch stuff. I just think it makes for close teams," Malveaux said.

Decades ago, hugging between co-workers was unusual if not verboten. Today, physical affection can flourish in certain industries -- dot-com, marketing and fashion, for instance -- even as companies have increasingly codified the rules of workplace touching.

Hug-mes and hug-me-nots

"I think hugging in the workplace depends a lot on the culture of that specific workplace," said Patricia Mathews, founder of Workplace Solutions Consultants, a St. Louis-based consultancy. "It's truly a gray area. Some people love to be hugged. For others it's 'please don't touch me.'"

Mathews, a member of the Society for Human Resource Management's employee-relations panel, has been training workers about illegal harassment in the workplace for 15 years. Along with more casual dressing in some offices, she has seen increased hugging due in part to the proliferation of relaxed work environments populated by younger employees, such as those at some marketing firms.

"Hugging in those kinds of workplaces has become less of an issue. I see a more causal interaction, these employees socialize more outside of work," Mathews said.

She added that organizations in recent years have been doing a better job of bringing in employees that fit their culture -- whether it's pro- or antihug.

Hugging rules

Hugging isn't illegal in the workplace, but it isn't always welcome.

When it comes to physical behavior in the office that could lead to court action, there's no bright line between what's accepted and prohibited, noted Dianna Johnston, assistant legal counsel with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

"The only issue would be whether the nature of the touching or hugging is such that it threatened to become harassing," Johnston said. "To be considered unlawful, it would have to be unwelcome."

"It would have to be so severe or pervasive that a reasonable person in the same situation would feel offended," she said.

Since the late 1990s, companies have been trying to lay down rules for what constitutes inappropriate behavior and what doesn't. Companies that have such policies in place protect themselves from lawsuits that might stem from harassing behavior by their employees, Supreme Court decisions have found.

The emphasis on harassment policies, though, hasn't kept displays of physical affection from becoming common practice in certain industries. Hugging is also common among employees who have been working together for years, regardless of the culture of the industry. After all, many workers spend more time at the office than with their families. Plus co-workers are likely to have common interests, so it's only natural for friendships to form.

"Sometimes people get comfortable with each other, and over time they become more comfortable and that may include a big hug," said T. Ray Bennett, vice president of human resources with American Bureau of Shipping.

ABS, which does business all over the world, has developed company Intranet sites that offer information about local customs, including the appropriate way to greet folks when abroad.

Yet ABS doesn't encourage hugging or other intimate touches, said Bennett, another member of SHRM's employee-relations panel.

"Hugging is typically not necessary to get the job done, so it's not something we feel is necessary," he said. "We suggest that's its usually best to stay professional and stay away from that."

Tips on office etiquette

In terms of work-force business etiquette, most rules for hugging are similar to what they were 20 years ago, said Peter Post, a director of the Emily Post Institute.

"Our goal in etiquette is to be considerate of other people's feelings, and to do things to build relationships," said Post, great-grandson of Emily Post, who in 1922 wrote the definitive U.S. book on etiquette. "If by making a choice to hug a person, making them feel uncomfortable, I'm hurting that person, that's a mistake."

Yet times have changed, and will continue to do so, Post said. For example, 50 or 60 years ago if a woman didn't extend her hand to shake, men wouldn't extend their own, he noted.

"In today's world a man can extend his hand first. I think it's occurred because rather than having a gender-differentiated workplace, we have more of a neutral workplace. That's been a function of women really entering the work force, especially in latter half of 20th century," Post said.

A good rule of thumb is that huggers should consider not hugging a woman if they also wouldn't hug a man, Post said. Shaking hands will be perfectly acceptable, he said.

"Any kind of intimate touching is a mistake," Post said. "I would avoid even reaching out to touch somebody's shoulder as you're walking by them. We really recommend that people refrain from stepping in and giving a hug to a co-worker, a client."

He noted that there are circumstances in which hugging could be appropriate -- during personal moments, such as news of pregnancy or a personal tragedy.

For reluctant huggees -- those trying to avoid an embrace -- Post recommended putting your hand in front of you like a foil.

He added that hugging between women is probably more common, but that younger men seem more willing to hug friends or engage in a kind of half hug with an arm draped around a shoulder. Post has noticed increased hugging in workplaces dominated by younger employees and dot-com offices.

"If you tried doing that at a conservative bank it would probably be frowned on. I'm not sure that co-workers will start greeting each other with hugs and kisses every day because they're friends. Knowing the culture of the workplace is important," he said.

Peluang ‘Naik Pangkat’ Di Bulan Ramadan

Kemuncak bulan ‘mega’ tiba lagi. Allah telah panjangkan umur kita untuk merebut peluang menggilap rohani di bulan-bulan Rejab, Syaaban dan kini Ramadan. Melangkah masuk ke bulan penuh keberkatan ini, bermulalah pengembaraan rohani kita menyusuri rahmat dan keampunan Allah.

Yang kita kejar bukan nama, pangkat, kesihatan dan kemuliaan di dunia atau di sisi manusia, tapi pangkat besar dari Allah iaitu darjat takwa. Allah berfirman, maksudnya:“Wahai orang-orang yang beriman, diwajibkan ke atas kamu berpuasa, sebagaimana diwajibkan ke atas orang-orang yang sebelum kamu agar kamu bertakwa.” (Al-Baqarah: 183)

Kembara rohani kita menuju takwa adalah hakikatnya perjalanan hati untuk kembali kepada keadaan fitrah yang bersih. Hati yang hidup bersama turun naiknya nafas kita itu tidak akan benar-benar tenang dan tenteram selagi tidak menemui jalan untuk berbuat taat dan mengagungkan Allah.

Ini sesuai dengan fitrahnya yang asal sewaktu di alam roh – sebelum ia ditempatkan di dalam jasad lahir kita dan tercorak mengikut pengaruh nafsu dan syaitan. Ramadan adalah saat terbaik untuk mengembalikan hati kepada fitrahnya. Penghulu segala bulan ini membawa bersamanya rahmat dan keberkatan yang sangat banyak dan melimpah-ruah dari Allah. Inilah masa terbaik untuk meningkatkan amalan-amalan takwa dan mendidik serta membersihkan hati dari sifat-sifat yang bertentangan dengan fitrahnya.

Peluang untuk ini terbuka luas di sepanjang bulan Ramadan terutama melalui ibadah puasa, juga ibadah-ibadah lain yang hanya terdapat di bulan Ramadan iaitu ibadah sahur dan berbuka, solat tarawih serta membayar zakat fitrah. Di dalam bulan ini juga terdapatnya malam yang dinamakan Lailatul Qadar. Kedudukan, kemuliaan dan keberkatannya menyamai seribu bulan di sisi Allah. Bertemu dengan kemuliaan malam ini dalam keadaan hati dekat dengan Allah dan diri disibukkan dengan ibadah seolah-olah mendapat ‘jalan pintas’ untuk meningkatkan kualiti diri kita di depan Allah.

Tetapi peluang untuk mendapat ‘jalan pintas’ itu pun hanya akan Allah mudahkan untuk orang yang sungguh-sungguh menempuh jalan penuh berliku sebelumnya. Kalau tidak dipecahkan ruyung, manakan dapat sagunya. Kalau diri tidak dilatih dan hati tidak dipimpin untuk menghayati kebesaran malam-malam sepanjang Ramadan dengan melakukan solat, baca Quran, wirid dan zikir dengan penuh kesungguhan serta keikhlasan, manakan dapat kenaikan pangkat atau ‘promotion’ dari Allah hanya dalam satu malam.

Pangkat dari manusia pun tidak diperolehi dengan sebegitu mudah. Liku-liku untuk dapat kenaikan pangkat dari Allah mesti dilalui berserta pengorbanan dan harus menempuh ujian demi ujian. Bukan dengan jalan bersedap-sedap dan bermudah-mudah
